SAFETY TIPS

WORKPLACE EMERGENCIES

How would you escape from your workplace in an emergency? Do you know where all the exits are in case your first choice is too crowded? Are you sure the doors will be unlocked and that the exit access behind them will not be blocked during a fire, explosion, or other crisis? Knowing the answers to these questions could keep you and your employees safe during an emergency.

Does your company have written emergency plans?  The plan must cover not only fire emergencies, but procedures to follow in case of weather emergencies, chemical spills, extreme violence and civil disturbances, illnesses and deaths, and any other potential situations that could harm employees.

Have key personnel been identified and trained?  Have all employees received initial training and periodic reviews on your written plans?  Does your company hold periodic drills?
